HONORING A LOCAL FALLEN WARRIOR
This year we are honoring COL Ted Lorenz of Lower Merion - Penn Valley, PA. All the of the holiday care packages will be packed in Ted’s honor. COL Lorenz was a huge supporter and friend of Philadelphia Treats for Troops and was a volunteer. During his combat deployment to Afghanistan, Ted an avid runner and triathlete was exposed to open burn pits and other hazards. He was diagnosed with cancer January 2023. Ted fought his cancer like the warrior he was. He passed away on February 21, 2024. COL Lorenz served the US Army for over 28 years. He was the Staff Judge Advocate for the 377th Theatre Support Command, New Orleans where he oversaw the legal operations for the largest reserve unit in the Department Of Defense. He was also Commander of the 87th Legal Operations Detachment and deputy Commander of the 153rd Legal Operations Detachment. We affectionately new Ted as a local Lower Merion husband and father. He was a member of the Lower Merion School Board and a Penn Valley Junior Sports Association (PVJSA) youth basketball coach.
Our team at Philadelphia Treats for Troops are all civilians and never had the honor of serving our country. Holiday Treats for Troops packing event is our way of paying back a debt we can never fully repay to our brave warriors. If you have any questions, please contact me any time.
Very respectfully yours,
Freddie
